How Common is Anxiety?
Anxiety is one of the most common challenges facing our population today. Studies estimate as many as 1 in 3 of us will feel clinical levels of anxiety in our lifetime, and is something I treat people for very often.
Symptoms of Anxiety:
- Feeling nauseous
- Tension headaches
- Difficulty sleeping
- Light headedness and dizziness
- Tense muscles in the jaw or neck
- Feeling on edge or nervous
- Experiencing a sense of dread
- A racing mind
- Feeling like you’re standing outside of your body – detached from yourself
- Thinking you’re having a heart attack
- Thinking that everyone can see that you’re sweating
- Worrying about worrying
- Being unable to concentrate on a book
I have a specialist interest in working with anxiety and have successfully treated many people. My training allows me to provide you with the latest evidence-based treatments. As a clinical psychologist I am different from single therapy trained professionals. I am trained in a number of different approaches, which is essential because one size treatment does not fit all – your anxiety will be very different from someone else’s. The approaches I use are recognised to be as effective as medication, and, unlike medication, we will get to the root cause so that you can feel real progress. Treatments that I use include CBT, Mindfulness, CAT, Narrative Therapy and Psychodynamic approaches.
